Informations for participants

  • Who can partake? Every thereminist, from the very beginner to the very advanced or professional player. We look especially forward to see this year everybody who has already attended a Without Touch festival in the past.
  • Equipment: Everybody is expected to be equipped by their own theremin, stand, small amplifier and a music stand, as well as an extension cord and a multiple socket outlet (remember: We will have to set up about 30 Theremins simultaneously in the church!). The music school might help out with gear in exceptional cases, i.e. if you travel by plane.
  • Instrument: If you are a proud owner of a Moog Etherwave Pro Theremin, it is ok to bring it for your individual lessons. But to reduce interference problems in our multiple Theremin setup during the workshops and the concert, we ask you to consider playing rather an Etherwave Standard or Plus at these occasions. Please note that the Moog Theremini might also show unexpected behavior when other Theremins with stronger oscillators are beneath it.
  • Registration: You should register as soon as possible via the online registration form. After signing up, you will get an invitation by email to pay the package registration fee of 79€, which covers your participation in general, especially in the two mandatory workshops for all participants, and in the concert, via PayPal. In addition to that, you might book individual lessons and optional workshops which you will pay afterwards in cash to the respective teachers.
  • Presence: Although it might be possible for other academies to partake only during 1 or 2 days, much time here is scheduled for rehearsals and the concert on the Saturday and Sunday, so that most individual lessons and workshops will be held on Thursday and Friday. That’s why you should do your best to organize your travel to be present from Thursday morning, if possible.
  • Food and Stay: While teachers and organizers will care about everything around lessons, workshops, and the concert, you’ll have to organize your stay (hotel, airbnb, couch surfing) and food (besides the common dinner) on your own.
  • Theremin service, upgrade, and repair: Although the musical schedule for this event is relatively dense, Wilco Botermans and Thierry Frenkel will do their best to satisfy the demand. Please note your requests on the registration form.
  • Other: If you have still any questions, please ask before you register, using the general contact form of this website.
